Installed you control. Well it installed into the toolbox just fine. Now everything else that I had setup including AjaxToolkit and other controls are gone from toolbox. Menu/Toolbars are reset to VS defaults.

To say the least I am not impressed. I have yet to see anything as destructive to my environment as your control.

Hi SQLGuy,

Am intrigued - and would love to get to the bottom of this. I am also sympathetic - a screwed up IDE is the last thing any of us needs!

I have never heard of the toolbox ditching controls due to the installation of any control.

Though I'm sure you are frustrated - but I'm sure you will agree it is prudent to investigate the issue and actually find and reproduce its root cause..... Then we have the tools to nail the issue.

Did you use the MSI or install the DLL manually?
What other controls were installed?
Is there anything more you can tell us?

Thanks for answering. I used the msi. When it ran VS2005 indicated a setup and then when I opened VS it indicated a setup again. I think that setup is not the term that was on the dialog (perhaps configure?).

All other controls other than VS 2005 default controls and Ajax (not toolkit) were removed from the toolbar.

Wow.

I used the software found here to do the Toolbox install:

http://www.codeplex.com/vstudiotoolbox

I've read through and understood their software. I have no idea how it could have caused the error you've experienced.

I know they're actively supporting their software, so I'd say take this up with them. I'll immediately integrate any new releases they make into our installers.

Thanks!

All,

I've received another report of this bug. I'll take it up with the developers over at codeplex, and I'll make sure that I'm not simply omitting a setting in their software - but I can't imagine that they'd purposely reset the toolbox by default...

Something here is amiss.

Cheers

-Dave

I too had my IDE reset, but did not loose any controls from the toolbox.

Guys,

Here is a link to the Issue Tracker I set up over on CodePlex.

http://www.codeplex.com/vstudiotoolbox/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=1392

Hopefully with their help we can fix this up.

Thanks for your patience.
